The Garment District is located between Fifth and Ninth Avenues from 34th to 42nd Street.

The Garment District is often described as the Fashion District of New York City. It contains a portion of 7th Ave that has been dubbed Fashion Avenue, and is also home to The Fashion Institute of Technology. The district is barely one square mile but includes such diverse landmarks as Jacob Javits Convention Center in the extreme West, the New York General Post Office, Penn Station, and Madison Square Garden in the center, and the Empire State Building to the East.

At one point in time, there was an extraordinary concentration of industry, especially in textiles, but nowadays, it is an extension of Midtown to the south and west, made up of mostly office space.

Nevertheless, the neighborhood is still home to warehouses and workshops of the fashion industry.

The Garment District is an ideal place for business centered around Penn Station, especially commuters from New Jersey and Long Island. It is cheaper than Midtown, but still offers all the benefits of transportation, shopping, and entertainment. Finally, the high-profile Empire State Building is an excellent option for small businesses.
