The site was previously home to a gas station and a convenience store, which were partially demolished at the end of 2015. Xinyuan acquired the 25,100-square-foot site for $57.5 million in January 2016.

The project, initially dubbed the "Manhattan Hudson Garden Project," involves a seven-story building stretching across a full block with 200 feet of frontage along Tenth Avenue. It features 82 residential units, averaging about 1,052 square feet each, and includes a 19,000-square-foot retail space on the ground floor. Target serves as the anchor tenant.

Construction began after securing a $108 million commercial construction loan in April 2017. The building was designed by Marvel Architects and offers a mix of residential and retail spaces, with the top floor housing four large apartments.

The residential units are priced at up to $2,000 per square foot, making them less expensive than some other new constructions in Manhattan. This project marks XIN Development's second major venture in New York City, following the successful Oosten condominium in Williamsburg.
