The original Pepsi-Cola Building was constructed from 1958 to 1960 and designed by Gordon Bunshaft and Natalie de Blois of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill (SOM). It was built in the International Style with a glass curtain wall and served as the headquarters of the Pepsi-Cola Company until 1967.

After Pepsi moved out, the building was occupied by Olivetti S.p.A. until 1978. It was later owned by various entities, including Peter Kalikow and the Equitable Life Assurance Society. The New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission designated the Pepsi-Cola Building as a landmark in 1995.

The 500 Park Tower was constructed between 1981 and 1984 by James Stewart Polshek & Partners. It features a facade made of thermal black granite, glass, and aluminum. The tower contains office space on its lower floors and residential condominiums on the upper floors.
