1270 Broadway, originally known as the Wilson Building, was constructed between 1912 and 1913 in the Beaux-Arts architectural style. The building is a significant example of early 20th-century office architecture in Manhattan, featuring a decorative cast-iron storefront, rusticated limestone on its second and third stories, and a grand top story with paired-arch windows and a bracketed cornice.

The building was part of a major redevelopment effort of West 34th Street and Herald Square, spurred by the construction of Pennsylvania Station just one block to the west. This redevelopment reflected the rapid urban growth and modernization of New York City during that era.

1270 Broadway's design was influenced by prominent architects Townsend, Steinle & Haskell and exhibits a blend of brick, stone, and terra cotta materials. Positioned across from Greeley Square, the building is noted for its rich ornamental detail, including lion embellishments and intricate stonework that highlight the craftsmanship of the period.

Nearby is the former Hotel Martinique (now the Radisson Martinique), another monumental Beaux-Arts building designed by renowned architect Henry Janeway Hardenbergh, who also designed the Plaza Hotel.
