Storia di 1270 Broadway, Manhattan, NYC

1270 Broadway, originariamente noto come Wilson Building, è stato costruito tra il 1912 e il 1913 nello stile architettonico Beaux-Arts. Il design di 1270 Broadway è stato influenzato dai rinomati architetti Townsend, Steinle & Haskell e presenta una combinazione di materiali come mattoni, pietra e terracotta. Situato di fronte a Greeley Square, l'edificio è noto per i suoi ricchi dettagli ornamentali, inclusi abbellimenti con leoni e complessi lavori in pietra che evidenziano l'abilità artigianale dell'epoca.

Nei dintorni si trova l'ex Hotel Martinique (oggi Radisson Martinique), un altro imponente edificio in stile Beaux-Arts progettato dal celebre architetto Henry Janeway Hardenbergh, che progettò anche il Plaza Hotel. Completato nel 1912, il Martinique era considerato il più grande hotel del mondo all'epoca e condivide gli elementi di design tripartiti comuni alle grandi strutture di quel periodo.

Oggi, 1270 Broadway continua a essere un edificio per uffici, rappresentando una testimonianza dell'evoluzione architettonica e commerciale di Manhattan nei primi anni del 1900 e rimane un punto di riferimento notevole nel quartiere Koreatown vicino a Penn Plaza.
