The building at 45-47 West 27th Street, Manhattan, NYC, is a historic Beaux-Arts structure completed in 1910, designed by architect Henry J.T. Fuehrmann. Originally commissioned by the Manhattan Office Building Co. in 1909, it replaced two older houses on the site.

The area around West 27th Street evolved significantly over time. Initially a respectable residential neighborhood, by the 1890s, it had become part of the infamous Tenderloin District, known for its brothels, gambling houses, and saloons. The French Church of St. Esprit purchased the properties at Nos. 45 and 47 in 1899 but later sold them to be replaced by the current building.

The structure is a 12-story loft and retail building featuring buff-colored brick with limestone trim, and architectural elements such as a Greek key bandcourse and terra cotta ornamentation. Historically, it housed several garment firms and notably served as the Prohibition Enforcement Headquarters during the Prohibition era in the United States.

Today, the building retains its original architectural charm above the first floor, despite modifications at the street level for retail spaces. It is located in the NoMad neighborhood, Manhattan, and was last significantly altered in 2014.
