In the late 1970s, the building gained international fame as Studio 54, a legendary nightclub that became a symbol of disco culture and nightlife, attracting celebrities and renowned figures of the era.

Following the nightclub era, the venue was reconverted back into a Broadway theater, currently operating with about 1,006 seats over two levels.
