The Fred F. French Building, located at 551 Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, New York City, is a 38-story skyscraper designed by H. Douglas Ives and Sloan & Robertson. Completed in 1927, it features an Art Deco style with Middle Eastern influences. The building was named after Frederick Fillmore French, owner of the Fred F. French Companies, which commissioned the structure as its headquarters.

The facade is primarily composed of brick walls and limestone trim, with two bronze entrances and mythological figures at the base. The top includes a tower with Mesopotamian bas-reliefs and faience tiles. The lobby features a polychrome vaulted ceiling with similar Middle Eastern motifs.

Originally intended as a 31-story building, it was expanded to 38 stories after the architects received a zoning variance. The building was the second-tallest in its area upon completion and underwent a major restoration in the 1990s. It became a New York City designated landmark in 1986 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

The Fred F. French Building is located at 551 Fifth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, New York City. It is situated on the northeast corner with 45th Street. The building is also known by its secondary address as 1-7 East 45th Street.

This 38-story skyscraper was designed by the architectural firm of H. Douglas Ives and completed in 1927. It features a blend of Art Deco, ancient Babylonian, and European styles, contributing significantly to Fifth Avenue's international identity.

The building's exterior boasts a striking vertical facade of limestone and brick, adorned with orange brickwork, terracotta décor, and bronze paneling. The interior lobby is an interior landmark, featuring Roman travertine floors, St. Genevieve marble walls, and cast bronze elevator doors.

The Fred F. French Building is owned by The Feil Organization and was designated a New York City landmark in 1986. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.
