The building features a steel skeleton with concrete floors and an exterior dominated by black granite and glass, designed by Emery Roth & Sons and developed by Peter Sharp.

In June 2007, Somerset Partners acquired the building for $509 million, marking the highest price per square foot for an office building in the U.S. at that time.
