The Shelton Hotel, located at 525 Lexington Avenue in Manhattan, NYC, was designed by architect Arthur Loomis Harmon and completed in 1923. It is one of the first "skyscraper" residential hotels, playing a significant role in the development of skyscrapers in New York City. Initially built as a men's apartment hotel with 1,200 bedrooms, it later opened its doors to women in 1924. The hotel features a library, lounge, Turkish bath, and sports facilities.

Located on the east side of Lexington Avenue between 48th and 49th Streets, the Shelton Hotel is part of the "hotel alley" stretch, which was developed following the opening of Grand Central Terminal and the Lexington Avenue subway line. The building is notable for its powerful massing and was the first successful embodiment of the massing requirements of the 1916 Zoning Law. Its design incorporates medieval and Renaissance details, reflecting a Lombard Revival style.

Over the years, the hotel has undergone several modifications, including changes to its ground story façades in 1935 and a restoration in 1977-78. Today, it is known as the New York Marriott East Side.

525 Lexington Avenue, located in Midtown Manhattan, New York City, is a 34-story building that serves as a student dormitory and was formerly known as the Shelton Hotel, Shelton Towers Hotel, Halloran House, and the New York Marriott East Side. It is situated on the southeast corner of Lexington Avenue and 49th Street.

Originally constructed between 1922 and 1923, the building was designed by Arthur Loomis Harmon in a style influenced by North Italian Romanesque or Early Christian architecture. It was once the world's tallest hotel and featured amenities such as a gymnasium, bowling alley, Turkish baths, swimming pool, and squash courts.

Today, it operates as a residence hall for New York Tech students, offering facilities like communal kitchens, a fitness center, and recreational areas. The location is close to several attractions and amenities in Midtown East.

We love a challenge!

Optimal Spaces can help you turn critical and complex real estate issues into opportunities for growth and or cost reduction. We offer the experience, know-how, and the strategic planning that helps lead to better decisions. Virtually everything you need to enhance the value of your business (for profit and not for profit) , you will find at Optimal Spaces.

About Optimal Spaces
Optimal Spaces are Tenant Brokers, only representing commercial tenants, not owners or landlords. By contrast, managing agents and most commercial brokers are "landlord agents" representing the interest of owners. Their goal is to market and lease their clients' properties with the best possible terms for the owners. Thus, they will neither show you as broad a selection nor push to get the best price, since their loyalty is to the Landlord. An Optimal Spaces agent will show you a broader range of properties and offer you a broader range of important services than a managing agent or commercial broker will. We will provide you with a market survey, floor plans, pricing expectations , and access to our rolodex: Optimal Spaces walks you through the process from start to finish. Upon entering your new space, it will look the way you want, all at the price you agreed to spend. In addition to negotiating the best price, we will reveal and abate many "hidden costs" to you. We will show you all the relevant available spaces and safeguard your interests throughout the process. Because of tour costs to provide these services, we ask in exchange that clients sign an Exclusive Brokerage Agreement. This allows us to plan appropriately for assisting you with every step of the process.
