该地块历史丰富,最初包括Henry Parish于1847-48年建造的意大利风格豪宅,后来容纳了各种租户和用途。Henry与Daniel Parish是来自纽约上州贵格会家庭的富裕纺织品商人。Henry Parish去世后,豪宅被分割为商业用途,曾作为第二家联合广场酒店,并接待过著名室内设计师Leon Marcotte等租户。

最初的860百老汇大楼是一座红砖与铸铁元素装饰的华丽建筑。但在1920年代,大楼经历了一次重大改造,外立面被剥离并重新覆以素色砖块,大部分装饰元素被移除,仅保留了扇形女儿墙、檐口和赤陶楣饰。

2014年,PKSB建筑事务所设计了一个屋顶增建部分,灵感来自Lienau档案中最初包含曼萨德屋顶的设计方案。增建部分为两层结构,带有坡屋顶和装饰性老虎窗,既为建筑提供了合适的“冠顶”,又保留了历史临街立面和檐口线条。这一增建得到了纽约市地标保护委员会的批准。

860百老汇还因安迪·沃霍尔晚年在此设立“工厂”而具有文化历史意义。沃霍尔的860百老汇工厂是其纽约艺术圈的重要组成部分,使这座建筑在建筑与文化史上均占有一席之地。

如今,860百老汇作为Ladies’ Mile历史保护区的指定建筑,反映了19世纪末曼哈顿商业开发模式及其通过适应性再利用和保护实现的持续演变。
