Over the decades, the Yorkville Casino was a vibrant cultural venue hosting a cabaret, two large ballrooms, a movie theater, and a nickelodeon. However, during World War II, the building was used as a meeting place for the pro-Nazi German-American Bund, which distributed Nazi literature there.

The original building underwent multiple renovations, including a major remodeling in 1917 by architects Trowbridge & Livingston that enhanced the interior with a balcony, ornamental stairs, new windows, and increased seating. In 1964, the Yorkville Casino ceased to operate as a social club and was repurposed into an office building with a movie theater on the lower floors. Most of the original ornate architectural features, including the heavily decorated lobby ceiling, were removed or obscured during renovations of the 1960s.
