Historia de 24 West 40th Street, Manhattan, NYC
El edificio ubicado en 24 West 40th Street en Manhattan, Nueva York, fue construido en 1925 como sede de la revista Scientific American. Encargado por Munn & Co., Inc., los editores de Scientific American, esta estructura de 16 pisos fue diseñada por el arquitecto Ely Jacques Kahn de Buchman & Kahn. El edificio de Scientific American se destacaba entre estos excepcionales edificios construidos en la primera mitad del siglo XX.
El edificio también albergó la Asociación para el Establecimiento y Mantenimiento de Museos de las Artes Pacíficas en la Ciudad de Nueva York, fundada en 1914 para promover la educación en ciencia e industria. La asociación mantuvo una gran biblioteca y exhibió innovaciones para apoyar el progreso industrial.
En diciembre de 1928, The Miller Company, fabricante de accesorios de iluminación, alquiló dos pisos, llenando el edificio hasta su máxima ocupación. El edificio superó las dificultades de la Gran Depresión y la Segunda Guerra Mundial, cambiando de propietario en 1943, pero siguió siendo un importante hito asociado con la educación científica e industrial.
